Congressman Johnson Holding Interfaith, Public Policy Roundtable on Jan. 6 Insurrection

WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Thursday, January 6, Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04) will be holding a virtual roundtable discussion titled: "Root Causes of the Insurrection: Securing Democracy For All." As part of a national day of observances and events, the Congressman's event will feature Ray of Hope Pastor Rev. Cynthia Hale as moderator with a panel of special guests from the faith and public policy disciplines.

WHY: Last year's January 6 insurrection was a traumatic event that shook our democracy to its core. January 6, 2021, exposed America's original moral dilemma -- the demon of racism and white supremacy. As the country becomes increasingly multiracial and multicultural, efforts are underway to further destabilize our democracy. The panel, moderated by Rev. Dr. Cynthia Hale of Ray of Hope Church, will discuss the root causes underlying the insurrection, and what we must all do in 2022 to counter the ongoing attack on freedom all while ensuring the protection and preservation of our democracy. This is an interfaith and public policy discussion with the goal for everyone in the audience to be inspired to act in 2022. Given that Georgia is a central locus and focus of the national battle for our democracy, this event will be engaging, timely and extremely relevant.
