Congressman Johnson Appointed Senior Whip For 117th Congress
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04), a senior member of the House Judiciary Committee and Chairman of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property and the Internet, announced he is returning as a senior whip for the 117th Congress.
This week, U.S. House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn, D-SC, announced that Rep. Johnson will serve as a senior whip, a role the Atlanta congressman had last year.
“Hank has always brought valuable insights and perspective to our Whip organization,” said Whip Clyburn. “I am pleased that he will be returning this Congress and I look forward to working together in collaboration with the Biden-Harris Administration to advance our legislative priorities.”
“It’s truly an honor to be appointed to this important role,” said Rep. Johnson. “Working with my colleague and mentor Whip Clyburn and the caucus, I look forward to putting forth and passing critical legislation to help Georgia’s Fourth District and the entire country move forward – especially as we work to get past COVID-19, safely re-open our schools, get shots in arms and help rebuild our economy.”
Rep. Johnson is serving his eighth term in Congress. He also serves on the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee and the Oversight & Reform Committee.
