Center for Pan Asian Community Services, Inc Receiving $240K Grant to Support Citizenship Preparation Services
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04) is proud to announce that the Center for Pan Asian Community Services, Inc. (CPACS), located in Georgia’s 4th Congressional District, has been awarded $240,046 through the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Fiscal Year 2024 Citizenship and Integration Grant Program.
This funding will support CPACS in providing essential citizenship preparation services to lawful permanent residents, empowering them on their path to becoming U.S. citizens while fostering integration into American society.
“This grant underscores the importance of the work being done by CPACS to support the diverse and growing immigrant communities in Georgia” said Congressman Johnson. “By removing barriers and providing vital resources, this program is helping individuals realize their American Dream, and I’m proud to support such transformative efforts.”
USCIS awarded a total of 12.6 million to 43 organizations across 25 states through the grant program, which focuses on reaching underserved and vulnerable communities. The program includes funding under two initiatives: the Citizenship Integration and Naturalization Services Program (CINAS) and the new Citizenship and Integration Training Academy (CITA).
The Center for Pan Asian Community Services, Inc. will use these funds to expand their citizen preparation services, ensuring that lawful permanent residents in Georgia have access to the resources they need to navigate the naturalization process successfully.
“We are honored and thrilled to receive the CINAS grant. In DeKalb, Gwinnett, and Fulton counties alone, there are over 113,000 legal permanent residents eligible to naturalize, and this critical funding will enable CPACS to significantly expand our naturalization services with citizenship preparation classes and workshops, legal assistance, and language resources” said Alexis Nkusi, interim CEO of CPACS. “By removing barriers to citizenship, we are not only empowering individual community members but also strengthening the social fabric of our region through increased civic engagement and opportunity. We look forward to serving our community and making a meaningful difference in the lives of immigrant families!”
Congressman Johnson remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote equity, opportunity, and access for all residents in Georgia’s 4th Congressional District.
