Happy Holidays & Looking Forward to 2022

Dear friends,

I wish everyone and their families a very Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and happy holiday season as we prepare to close out another challenging year with high hopes for a fresh start in 2022.

Although 2021 was a demanding year for us all, we have many victories to celebrate as well – including deploying life-saving vaccines, helping individuals and families make ends meet – especially our frontline workers directly impacted by the pandemic – and we provided the funding necessary for our kids to be in school safely.

With the rise of the Omicron variant, we must all double down as a community and nation to ensure our loved ones are vaccinated, we're using masks indoors in public settings and socially distancing when appropriate.

One of the highlights of 2021 that will have an impact in 2022 and beyond is the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, the bipartisan infrastructure law, which represents generational change and investment in America's future.

Last week, I visited a quarry in Lithonia and the collapsed Access Road bridge in Covington to highlight the importance of the infrastructure law. The law is going to create millions of good-paying jobs with a once-in-a-century investment in rebuilding infrastructure in Georgia, including roads and bridges, transit, rail, clean drinking water and wastewater systems and high-speed broadband networks. I also held a telephone town hall on infrastructure, Build Back Better and housing help last week. If you missed it, you can listen HERE.

I'm a proud supporter of the Build Back Better Act, which hit a bit of a speed bump in the Senate this week. While it is disappointing that we may not have a law by the end of the year, I'm hopeful that we will soon reach agreement so that this vital legislation can pass as soon as possible next year.

We need to stay at the table and fight for Build Back Better because it delivers once-in-a-generation action to bring down the everyday costs that burden Georgia families, creates good-paying jobs, cuts middle-class taxes and lowers the costs of health care, childcare and family care. Importantly, this legislation is fully paid-for by asking the wealthiest few and biggest corporations pay their fair share. Make no mistake, the Build Back Better Act will both grow the economy and fight inflation – and fight the existential threat of our time – climate change.

As always, I appreciate your time and feedback. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to represent you in Congress. Thanks to the vaccines and rapid testing, many of us are gathering for Christmas and New Year's in person safely with family and friends. If you have not received your life-saving vaccine, it's not too late. Please get vaccinated if for no other reason than to protect your elderly or vulnerable family members.

If you have an issue with a federal government agency, please don't hesitate to call my district office at 770-987-2291. Thank you and have a safe and blessed holiday season and look forward to seeing you in the New Year!
