Dear Friends,
(Pictured above) On July 1, 2015, Rep. Johnson pinned Rockdale County resident Ret. Command Sgt. Maj. Simon Ramos with the Purple Heart for wounds he received in Vietnam in 1962. The ceremony was held at the WALK OF HEROES/Vietnam War Memorial in Conyers.
In recognition of Memorial Day weekend, I’m renewing my vow to fight to ensure veterans and military families have the resources they need by reaffirming a basic pledge that just as our soldiers leave no one behind on the battlefield, we must never leave our veterans behind at home.
That’s why I’m working with my colleagues to honor the indomitable courage and selfless sacrifice of veterans transitioning into civilian careers.
Nothing I’ve done this month is as important as helping mark up and pass out of committee the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which funds our military and protects our soldiers and their families.
As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, let me say on behalf of a grateful nation we salute our veterans’strength and service by serving our veterans as well as they have served our nation.

Rep. Johnson speaks at a ceremony on March 28, 2013, where he presented DeKalb County resident Staff Sgt. Clarence Bostwick with the Purple Heart Medal for wounds he received in action in Vietnam in 1968. The ceremony was held at the Lou Walker Senior Center in south DeKalb.
