March 26, 2019
Press Release

DECATUR, GA – Today, Rep. Hank Johnson (GA-04) issued the following statement after he learned that local small business Gresham Transportation Services was awarded a new contract by MARTA this month. Gresham Transportation had previously worked under Dallas-based MV Transportation as a subcontractor to provide paratransit and other services for elderly and disabled MARTA customers but was dropped by MV without cause. Rep. Johnson stood up for Gresham during the process to get reinstated:

“I’m pleased to have made the inquiry to MARTA about its treatment of minority contractors. Gresham Transportation Services a small DeKalb County minority-owned business – successfully earned back a contract from MARTA after initially being dropped as a subcontractor,” said Rep. Johnson, a member of the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee. “I applaud MARTA for doing the right thing and fulfilling their responsibility to minority and women-owned businesses. Rules that ensure companies owned by minorities and women get a share of government contracts are absolutely critical to leveling the playing field and helping all our communities in Georgia grow and thrive.”
